Namji” Doll

Description

The fertility dolls, with which the girls of the Dowayo and Namji tribes play in the northwest of Cameroon, ensure the fertility of these and prepare them in their role as mothers.

Its abstract and elongated features, and the profusion of its ornaments (which may include coins, shells, fibers and leather) make Namji dolls one of the most prized of African primitive cultures.
