Description
No doubt, the star of this season! The khaasa were already made in the medieval shongai empire and their utility, like today, was to serve as both carpet and cover.
The warp is made of cotton and the weft of wool, which makes these pieces a fine but firm carpet, a warm cover and a precious tapestry.
In general, the colours black and red dominate on a white background, to which other more vivid colours are also added.
Each of the geometric motifs has its own name and symbolises water, fertility and other similar values.
They are the longest bands ever made in West Africa, which is why we can offer such a large size.
It comes from Niger.
